Speaking Skills (6)

In the speaking module of the IELTS, you will make a far better impression using expressions

from native speaking English. The following expressions have been carefully selected to answer

the questions below. They will make you sound more natural as you talk.

Part One

1. How often do get sick?

2. Do you like doing dangerous things?

3. What do you do for fun?

4. What are some things that make you sad?

5. Do you get angry a lot?

(Audio)

1. I don't fall ill very usually, and whenever I feel under the weather, I make up an appointment with the doctor, or just get some extra rest; I don't remember the last time that I felt off-color.

2. No, I'm not the adventurous type. I know people who do things like bungee jumping for fun. But I just don't see the attraction. I think its sheer madness.

3. Well a bit of everything. I get a real kick out of watching movies and listening to my favorite songs over and over again. I'm the fun-loving type.

4. Only a handful of things, honestly. Well, not having time to have fun, and getting negative feedback at work make me feel miserable. You won't find me down in the dump all too often. I know how to pick/cheer myself up.

5.  It rubs me the wrong way when I don't get mutual respect, and what really drives me up the wall is loud parties, and I've had it up to here with the next door neighbor, so as you can see, I'm not so easily- annoyed.

Part Two

6. Do you have computer skill?

7. Do you drive a car?

8. What do you want to do with your job in the future?

9. Do you like reading books?

10. Are you a sociable person?

(Audio)

6. Yes. I know computers inside out. I know the ins and outs of it because I've never been out of touch with computers. The computer is the be-all-and-end- all of my life.

7. Absolutely, and it makes all the difference in my life. I've been driving for over ten years now, and my car runs like a dream. I need to get to a lot of places every day, and my car does the trick.

8. Well, the hours are long, so I' d probably look for a job with more sociable hours, but it's easier said than done. I'd also love starting a career with more promotional opportunities.

9. Yes, the more, the merrier. I love reading all kinds of books. Detective stories, romantic novels, even comic books, you name it, I love it.

10. Yes and no. Yes because I have many friends from different eras of my life and no because nowadays I prefer to be alone. In other words, it seems that at the age of 30, I cherish my loneliness more than the company of others
